Some 18th /19th Century Norwegian Silver Filigree Folk Jewellery.

Some 18th /19th Century Norwegian Silver Filigree Folk Jewellery.

Bunad - The National Costume of Norway.

Post no. 1.

(First Draught).

Each of these broaches is approximately 8 - 9 cms in diameter.

The websites do not make it clear, but I am assuming that none of these examples are marked.

Therefore it is not possible to determine any exact ages for these pieces.

Whilst my interest is primarily in open work filigree objects - this Norwegian Filigree is very interesting from the point of view of the different techniques used.

Production was very low after the end of the 19th Century.

I do not intend to go into the subject in any great detail at present.

Most of these photographs come from the website of the Norwegian Folk Museum
