 Ebony Drinking Vessel with Silver Filigree Mounts, 

the Cast Silver lid in the style of Wendel Jamnizer.

Height 18.5 cms


The cup made c:a 1780-1800, the lid second half of the 16th century. At the mouth loose border of filigree. Four-sided footplate. Ebony lid completely covered in silver plate with molded lizards, shells and twigs in free-sculpture. The lid in the form of a natural cast with lizards and plants in Wensel Jamnitzer's art. 

The Lid probably Germany (Nuremberg?) around 1500 second half. The cup otherwise probably Scandinavia or England around SEK 1780-1800. Unmarked
