A Fabulous Silver Filigree and Enamel Box.

 Unmarked, presumably South German, around 1700.

H 4; W 11; D 10 cm.

At Auction with Lempertz, Koln, Germany. Lot 763, 29 May 2020.

Parcel gilt oval box decorated throughout with pierced filigree acanthus leaves, the slightly domed lid with corresponding décor and inset with an enamelled copper panel depicting various types of tulips. 

 

The finely painted enamel is similar to works by the Nuremberg based engraver and enamel painter Georg Strauch (1613 – 73) see below.
