A Baroque Parcel Gilt Silver Filigree Holy water Stoop.

17th/ 18th Century


 H without plinth 15.3; W 8 cm.

Designed as a hemi-spherical bowl with flat cover on three curved supports. Richly decorated with filigree tendril motifs. The oval back panel with corresponding decor surrounding Christ's monogram and a small gilded Corpus Christi. On an associated ebonised wood plinth, the original glass or metal inset lost.

Unmarked, Lempertz suggest Southern Germany, presumably Schwäbisch Gmünd, 17th/18th C.
