Interesting 17th / 18th Century Silver Filigree Casket
Three Lateral Domes,
with Applied Filigree Double Headed Eagle.
Cast Feet
24 x 21.7 x 13.5 cms.
The form of the handles is distinct and appears in several caskets all of which appear to have their origins on the Iberian peninsular - which should not imply that they were manufactured there, but at this point it appears to be a strong possibility.
Every so often the research for this blog into Silver Filigree objects throws up something out of the ordinary (if one can describe any of these pieces as ordinary) that requires an in depth appraisal.
This large casket is one of those pieces.

Annoyingly this website does not allow right clicking and so translation is difficult for the none Spanish speaker.
