A Marked Silver Filigree Box.

possibly by HINRICH JOHANN ROST.

Marked silver filigree is very rare.

I am dubious that this little casket is in fact German.

I suspect that this casket might be 19th century Ottoman with faked marks - more research is needed.

MAKER'S MARK ONLY STRUCK TWICE, IR IN OVAL PUNCH, PROBABLY FOR HINRICH JOHANN ROST (ROSE), GLÜCKSTADT, SCHLESWIG HOLSTEIN, CIRCA 1700.
