17th Century Gold Filigree Casket.
Embellished with diamonds.
H. 9,7 cm, B. 16 cm, T. 10,2 cm.
Currently no details of provenance available.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum suggests Goa as the origin of this piece, but I believe it is more likely to be European - perhaps South German or by a German craftsman. As in most filigree pieces it is unmarked but the techniques used are very similar to those used on European filigree.
The similarities with the casket in the Museum at Bergen, Norway are inescapable
