16th/17th Century Gold Filigree Casket.

  Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, Lisbon.

Gold, traces of enamel?

14 x 19.5 x 9.6 cm.

They say Goa. I think possibly South German.

Provenance - from the Monastery of the Augustinian Friars at Graça, Lisbon, Portugal.

Hugo Miguel Crespo suggests Hormuz.

According to the Museum where it had been since the the early 17th Century.

no further info at present.

The lizard clasp seems to be particular to caskets from Gujarat.

More investigation needed.
